Biography
Julio Pane's biography
Julio Pane is one of the best bandoneon players of his generation. From Villoldo to Piazzolla, Pane masters every tango style. The notes on his bandoneon range from silky, grumbling sounds to amazingly speedy and precise variations. From the seventies onwards, he has taken part in the main instrumental ensembles, including those of Horacio Salgán, Enrique Mario Francini, Armando Pontier, Miguel Caló, Atilio Stampone, José Basso, Leopoldo Federico and Astor Piazzolla. In 1983, he became the leading bandoneon of the Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires. Pane performed as a soloist with the orchestras Orquesta Estable del Teatro Colón, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional, and the Symphonic Orchestras of Toulouse and Dresden, among others.
For the last fifteen years, music students, professional musicians and tango aficionados have gathered spontaneously every time there is an appearance by Pane’s trio. Free from orchestral arrangements, on such occasions Pane improvises with his bandoneon, establishing always surprising dialogues with the piano and the double bass. With the same spirit of those meetings, Julio Pane will make a solo appearance, recreating the sounds of his new album, Instantáneas, featuring classics like Boedo, Chiclana and La Maleva.
