Biography
Luis Salinas's biography
A self-taught musician, Luis Salinas ping-pongs freely between different styles: jazz, folklore, tango… his guitar always has a surprising contribution to every genre. His versatility led to musicians like B. B. King and Hermeto Pascoal to invite him to join them onstage. In Argentina, he had some rewarding experiences with big names of folklore and tango, including Adolfo Ábalos, Horacio Salgán, Jaime Torres and María Graña. On his art, another remarkable instrumentalist, George Benson, states: “He is one of my favourite guitarists.” And Chick Corea refers to him as “one of the great Argentine musicians.” In turn, Scott Henderson declares: “He is amazing. No doubt he’ll be a guitar hero.” And, in Baden Powel’s words, “He is a crazy, brilliant guitarist.” Since his debut album, released in Sweden in 1994, Salinas has been recording a steady average of one album a year, making tango and folklore with his sole guitar, with another accompanying guitar or with an electric guitar in a jazz combo. He wrote most of the pieces he plays in his concerts and albums, but he is also a connoisseur of the tango classics.
On this occasion he will appear alongside Javier Lozano (keyboards), Alejandro Tula (percussion), Horacio Avilano and Hugo Rivas (guitars).
