  Osvaldo Pugliese's biography

Since is beginnings in 1939 up to the director’s death in 1995, Osvaldo Pugliese’s orchestra developed one of the most significant tango styles. His magnificence is still vividly felt in the present day. His recordings are chosen by dancers at milongas every night, the new tango ensembles draw on his legacy and the aficionados of the genre keep listening to his orchestra as one of their favourites.
In the most “Pugliesean” evening of the Festival, there will be a gathering of musicians who shared different moments of the life of the pianist and composer: bandoneonists Daniel Binelli and Rodolfo Mederos, the ensemble Color Tango, led by Roberto Álvarez, Víctor Lavallén and the Sexteto Tango, accompanied by the couple of dancers Claudio Hofman and Pilar Álvarez. The event will be presented by Silvano Lanzieri and Natalio Etchegaray, the maestro’s bosom friend, who dedicated to him his tango Protocoleando.
