Orquesta Típica El Porvenir

The Festival opens with a brand new debut: that of the Orquesta Típica El Porvenir, featuring sixty musicians from the different youth orchestras of the programme Zonas de Acción Prioritaria (ZAP). This typical orchestra (which is atypical, since it comprises string as well as wind instruments) was set up in accordance with one of the festival’s aims: to achieve equal access to the tango heritage. With arrangements specially commissioned to Poppi Spatocco, Juan Carlos Cuacci and Pablo Agri, the Orquesta Típica El Porvenir is the star of a programme that also features guest artists from different generations: Gabriel “Chula” Clausi, Susana Rinaldi, Néstor Marconi, Luis Salinas, Raúl Lavié, Guillermo Fernández and Carlos Copello. The repertoire consists of all-time classics, including “El Porteñito,” “Verano Porteño,” “La Trampera,” Gallo Ciego and Ventarrón. The ZAP programme of youth orchestras, run by the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, is aimed at children in situations of social vulnerability. Coordinated by Claudio Espector, it is carried out in the neighbourhoods of Flores, Villa Lugano and Retiro.
