Clase Magistral por María Nieves y Juan Manuel Fernández

Tango lesson

Rather than a conventional lesson on dance techniques, this will be the occasion for everyone to meet María. A unique opportunity to get to know the most improtant dancer nowadays. From the milongas and the slums all the way up to the most prestigious theatres worldwide, María Nieves, together with Juan Carlos Copes, laid the foundations of contemporary tango as art and entertainment… and they managed to do so without role models and without ever leaving the neighbourhood. In 1983, they put tango in the world’s spotlight as the leading couple of the show Tango Argentino. This did not happen by chance, but as a well-deserved recognition for an over 30 year career in Argentina, from their first, successful steps which in 1951 lead them to win a dance contest after being acclaimed by an audience of ten thousand and later on, in 1952, to the creation of the Conjunto Juvenil de Tango Moderno (Modern Tango Youth Ensemble), from which stemmed every tango company touring the world today.
