Celebration in the "Tango Day"
This Friday 11/12 at 12.30 pm at the Astor Piazzolla pedestrian walk (Av. Roque Sáenz Peña and Libertad, a few meters from the Obelisco) a traditional celebration will be held commemorating “Tango Day” with the performance of the Buenos Aires City Tango Orchestra along with Susana Rinaldi, directed by Raúl Garello, Néstor Marconi and Juan Carlos Cuacci. It will be an excellent opportunity to celebrate also the recent declaration of tango as World Heritage by UNESCO. Entrance will be free.

Tango is Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and Buenos Aires will celebrate this on Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm in the corner of San Juan and Boedo streets. On Saturday the line up includes: Cantores de Típica, the Japanese winning couple in the “Salon Tango” category of the Dance World Cup, Malena Muyala, the Vale Tango orchestra, and the singers Ariel Ardit and Esteban Riera (who will premiere the tango “Veredas de las dos orillas”, especially written for this occasion). The Tango is Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
The tango is officially Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in a decision made by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) during this week. THE INTIMATE STORY OF THE “SALON TANGO” CATEGORY WINNERS
As described by the daily newspaper Clarín last Monday, the story of Hiroshi and Kyoko Yamao, the brand-new winners of the “Salon Tango” category, is absolutely related to tango. “He is 39 and she is 35 years old. TOTAL SUCCESS: OVER 300 THOUSAND PEOPLE
After two weeks of activities, the Tango World Championship and Festival has come to an end with record audience: 308 thousand people have attended this event with 170 thousand people at the festival and 138 at the Tango World Championship. Out of the total audience, and in accordance with a survey conducted at Harrods’ information stand, 20% of the people were tourists interested in discovering, getting to know and/or improve their taste for all kinds of tango.
